Each of the team names in Seattle Pride Classic 2024 are inspired by U.S. activists who have fought, sacrificed, and paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights. As we enjoy a fun-filled tournament together, we hope that you will take away a bit of knowledge on who these individuals are, and their courageous contributions to the LGBTQ+ community.
DIVISIONS: EXPLAINED
In assessing player placement, our team employs a meticulous methodology, leveraging standard deviations across various metrics such as skill level, experience, and age, to establish a comprehensive understanding of each participant’s skill profile. This process results in the formation of a bell curve, facilitating fair and equitable placement framework.
This year, we saw a sizable increase in registrations of new and novice skaters among our registrants, prompting us to make some adjustments.
The Competitive I & II divisions are more reflective of Upper Intermediate level of play, Intermediate we expect to be closer to Lower Intermediate, and Friendly I & II will be for Novice players.
Our Competitive I & II divisions will be composed largely of players who have 10+ years of experience playing organized hockey, and have an average self-ranking of 4.03 out of 6.0.
Our Intermediate division will be composed of players who have 5+ years of experience playing organized hockey, and have an average self-ranking of 3.17 out of 6.0.
Our Friendly I & II divisions will be composed of players who have less than 5 years of experience playing organized hockey, and have an average self-ranking of 2.10 out of 6.0.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all those who have already registered, and we’re eagerly anticipating the festivities ahead. Our commitment remains unwavering in ensuring that this tournament embodies the same spirit of inclusivity, warmth, and community that has defined our previous editions.
