MATTHEW CAMPBELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Seattle Pride Hockey Association understands and recognizes how cost prohibitive our sport is, and more so, how expensive it can be to attend a hockey tournament. To make the Seattle Pride Classic as inclusive as possible – in 2022, we introduced the Matthew Campbell Memorial Scholarship, to decrease economic barriers to participating and increase the opportunity to play in the Seattle Pride Classic.
It is our distinct pleasure to invite anyone with a need who wishes to attend and play in the Seattle Pride Classic 2025 to apply for the Matthew Campbell Memorial Scholarship.

Matthew Campbell was diagnosed with a very rare stage four metastasized Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor sarcoma with a dismal prognosis at the young age of 23. Matthew’s treatment brought him to Seattle to be closer to family and he quickly joined the Greater Seattle Hockey League and was very excited to join and help with the newly formed Seattle Pride Hockey Association. He had a personal interest in helping further the organization in between intense chemo treatments. Mostly, Matthew was interested in spreading kindness with inclusivity for all, as well as his lifelong passion for the game of hockey and continuing to live a very full life and giving back to others. Matthew fought with all he had for just one more minute with those he loved, but took his last breath on April 19, 2020, at the age of 24, in the arms of his family and the love of his life. In his name and memory, we want to recognize the legacy and impact that Matthew has forever left behind.
