As a volunteer, you will:
Volunteer duties could include staffing the check-in/information desk, setup and tear down, answering player questions, capturing social media content, etc. Check out all the amazing opportunities below.

Seattle Pride Hockey Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Many employers will pay for volunteer hours in the form of a donation back to the organization in which you volunteer for; in this case, Seattle Pride Hockey Association. Please be sure to track the hours you volunteer and check with your company’s HR or Payroll teams to see if your company offers this benefit, and what the requirements are. Most companies use Benevity, but your employer may have a different process.
The globe’s largest LGBTQ+ pride ice hockey tournament deserves a fabulous reception to kick off the weekend! We’re hosting our second Icebreaker Welcome Reception, a formal welcome reception for tournament players and their guests on Friday evening, June 6, 2025. 7 PM – 11 PM at the Astra Hotel Seattle in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. We could use a tremendous amount of support for load-in, setup, entertainment + guest management, strike and load out throughout the evening.
Job Title: Check-in Desk Attendant
Job Description:
Help with setup & strike.
Greet and welcome tournament participants and their guests at the check-in desk.
Efficiently process registrations and issue appropriate wristbands or identification badges.
Answer inquiries and provide information about the Icebreaker Welcome Reception and tournament schedule.
Ensure all attendees receive necessary materials and directions for the event.
Maintain organized records of attendee check-ins and wristband distribution.
Collaborate with event staff to address any issues or concerns promptly.
Job Title: Lobby Coordinator
Job Description:
Position volunteers strategically throughout the hotel lobby to guide and direct guests to venue spaces on the 2nd floor.
Provide clear and friendly directions to event locations, including meeting rooms and reception areas.
Assist guests with any questions or concerns they may have regarding event logistics.
Maintain a welcoming and helpful demeanor while interacting with hotel guests and event attendees.
Collaborate with event organizers to ensure smooth traffic flow and guest satisfaction.
Assist in the placement & setup of the check-in desk for participants; distribute jersey/socks & Swag Bags to participants; ensure every participant has completed pre-tournament check-in online or via physical forms; answer any questions; assist in tear down and stowage on Friday & Saturday evenings; other duties as assigned/capable.
Job Title: Tournament Check-in Coordinator
Job Description:
Assist in the placement and setup of the check-in desk for tournament participants.
Distribute jerseys, socks, and Swag Bags to registered participants.
Ensure every participant has completed pre-tournament check-in either online or via physical forms.
Answer any questions related to the tournament, schedule, or logistics.
Assist in tear down and stowage of equipment and materials on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Perform other duties as assigned or required based on capabilities and event needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate check-in desk setup, including layout and signage.
Organize and distribute tournament gear efficiently to registered participants.
Verify participant check-in status and address any outstanding issues.
Provide clear and accurate information to participants and guests.
Collaborate with event staff to maintain a smooth and well-organized check-in process.
Assist in the breakdown and storage of equipment and supplies after each day’s activities.
Flexibly handle additional tasks as needed to support the success of the tournament event.
Assist in placement of printed materials and media assets throughout the Iceplex; assist in placement and transport of physical materials and sponsor product as needed; assist in ensuring locker rooms are available and/or cleared out.
Job Title: Setup/Strike Hands
Job Description: As a Setup/Strike Hands team member, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth setup and teardown of event materials and spaces at the Iceplex venue. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the placement of printed materials, media assets, and sponsor products, as well as preparing locker rooms for tournament participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with event organizers to strategically place printed materials and media assets in designated areas within the Iceplex venue.
Assist in the transportation, setup, and arrangement of physical materials and sponsor products according to event requirements and guidelines.
Ensure that locker rooms are clean, organized, and accessible for use by tournament participants.
Communicate effectively with event staff and sponsors to coordinate logistics, address specific setup needs, and provide assistance as required.
Maintain a tidy and professional appearance of event spaces by assisting with the setup and removal of materials before and after the event.
Roam around the Iceplex and capture photo/video content and post to your social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter) and tag #SEAPrideClassic24 for Seattle Pride Hockey Association and others (participants, guests/spectators, sponsors/supporters, etc.) to re-share. (Your social media will need to be in a public setting; private profiles are not compatible).
Job Title: Content Capturers
Job Description: As a Social Media Content Creator for the Seattle Pride Hockey Association’s SEAPrideClassic24 event, you will be responsible for capturing engaging photo and video content at the Iceplex and sharing it on your public social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter). Your goal is to promote the event and encourage participants, guests, sponsors, and supporters to interact and share your posts using the designated hashtag #SEAPrideClassic24.
Key Responsibilities:
Roam around the Iceplex during the event to capture compelling photo and video content highlighting the tournament, participants, spectators, sponsors, and overall atmosphere.
Post regularly on your public social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) throughout the event days, showcasing the excitement and energy of the SEAPrideClassic24.
Use the hashtag #SEAPrideClassic24 in all your posts to increase visibility and encourage others to share and engage with your content.
Engage with event attendees and participants to create authentic and engaging social media content.
Collaborate with event organizers and sponsors to ensure alignment with promotional goals and messaging.
Monitor social media interactions and respond to comments and messages.
Work with Seattle Pride Hockey Association officers and Tournament Director to make sure teams and captains are on-schedule, participating in nominations/voting and other tasks are reminded and completed. Includes nominations for All Stars of Pride, Player of Pride, applicable schedule updates, locker room assignments/navigation, team standings, communicating injuries or missing player issues to Seattle Pride Hockey Association.
Job Title: Team Liaisons
Job Description: As a Tournament Liaison with the Seattle Pride Hockey Association (SPHA), you will play a vital role in coordinating with teams, captains, and players to ensure smooth operations and participation in various tournament activities. Your responsibilities will involve facilitating nominations, scheduling updates, locker room assignments, and communications regarding player-related issues to support the SPHA’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with SPHA officers and the Tournament Director to maintain a structured and organized tournament schedule.
Assist teams and captains in participating in nominations and voting processes for All Stars of Pride and Player of Pride awards.
Remind teams and participants of upcoming tasks, deadlines, and updates related to the tournament.
Communicate effectively with teams regarding schedule changes, locker room assignments, and navigation within the venue.
Keep track of team standings and relay pertinent information to SPHA officers and participants.
Act as a point of contact for reporting injuries or issues with missing players, ensuring timely and appropriate communication with the SPHA.
We have a lot of participants who stay at our host hotel. It’s important for a Seattle Pride Classic representative to be present and ensure participants have no issues getting to or from the venue. The hotel desk attendant would be responsible for ensuring all participants successfully check into their rooms, receive a copy of the welcome letter as well as a copy of the shuttle schedule.
Job Title: Hotel Hospitality Desk Attendant
Job Description: As a Hotel Hospitality Desk Attendant for the Seattle Pride Classic, your role is crucial in ensuring a seamless experience for participants staying at our designated hotel. You will be responsible for assisting participants with check-in, providing important information, and overseeing nightly hotel guest receptions.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist participants upon arrival at the hotel, ensuring smooth check-in process.
Provide participants with welcome letters and shuttle schedules to facilitate transportation to and from the tournament venue.
Address any issues or concerns participants may have during their stay and escalate as needed to ensure prompt resolution.
Coordinate and oversee nightly hotel guest receptions, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for participants.
Maintain a presence at the hotel desk to assist participants throughout their stay and be available to answer questions or provide assistance.
In addition, you would oversee the nightly hotel guest reception hosted at the hotel.
For 2024, we are incorporating a tournament command operations center (COC) to have resources available outside of the distraction of the tournament to manage issues and situations. This role will be located at our host hotel, Hampton Inn & Suites.
Job Title: Tournament Command Operations Center Operator
Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive Tournament Command Center Operator to oversee communications and logistics during our tournaments. As the Operator, you will be responsible for managing participant inquiries, directing attendees, providing event information, and monitoring communication channels for smooth coordination.
Responsibilities:
At the conclusion of each game throughout the weekend, we need support with inputting all the score & stats data into our main stats & standings website. This person would be seated back of house at our tournament command center and scoresheets would funnel to this role for input throughout the day.
Job Title: Game Stats Data Entry Specialist
Job Description: Join our team as a Game Stats Data Entry Specialist for the Seattle Pride Classic 2024, where you will play a critical role in inputting score and statistics data into our main stats and standings website. This position will be based backstage, receiving scoresheets and ensuring accurate and timely updates throughout the tournament weekend.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive scoresheets from each game and input score and statistics data into our designated stats and standings website.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all data entered, including game results, player statistics, and team standings.
Collaborate with tournament officials and referees to clarify any discrepancies or missing information on scoresheets.
Maintain organized records of game results and statistics for reference and reporting purposes.
Communicate effectively with the tournament management team to provide updates and resolve any issues related to game data.
While it is our sincerest desire for everyone to have a safe and healthy weekend, you never know when an accident can strike. We’re looking for trained & certified volunteer medics / EMT to provide aid if an event arises. Throughout the course of play, if no events are happening, this is a great event to mix and socialize with the local and national hockey community, including current and/or former National Hockey League (NHL) & Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) pros and other special guests.
Job Title: First Aid / Medical
Job Description: Join us as a trained and certified Volunteer Medic/EMT for the Seattle Pride Classic 2024, where you will be on hand to provide medical aid and assistance in case of emergencies during the event. Your role also includes networking and socializing with the hockey community during downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Be available onsite during the tournament to respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care as needed.
Assess and treat injuries or medical incidents that occur throughout the course of play.
Collaborate with event organizers and local medical services to ensure timely and appropriate medical response.
Remain informed about the tournament schedule and game timings to anticipate potential needs for medical assistance.
Network and socialize with participants, including local and national hockey community members and special guests during downtime.
Qualifications and Skills:
Valid certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or equivalent medical training.
Experience in providing medical care in sports or event settings is preferred.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure when responding to emergencies.
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with individuals in distress and other event attendees.
Commitment to safety and providing high-quality medical care to participants and spectators.
Given the climate that we live in today with tragedies throughout the nation, Seattle Pride Hockey Association would like to form an Emergency Response Team among our volunteer crew to help provide assistance with evacuations or potential other threats.
